Here We Go Again

I began blogging in 2006, and I called my blog, “Simply This That and the Other”. I started blogging in order to more easily share my 365 photo a day project with my family and close friends. I don’t remember if there was an option for public or private blogs back then, or I just wasn’t paying attention? But gradually other people started finding me and following me.

Blogging was quickly becoming more and more popular, and in late in 2007 the focus of my blog began to shift and ideas of starting a business were beginning to fill my mind.

September 13, 2009 I changed my blog name from ‘Simply This That and the Other’ to ‘Pleasant Home’, and I un-officially started my little home based business.

In the early days I shared more of my home life and gradually added a bit of my quilting hobby.

I was still trying to decide what I wanted the main focus of my business to be, thus the tag line “all things home” was born.

In 2010 I officially registered my business and with my daughter-in-law Amanda’s help, we designed this flower logo. I chose the flower because I thought the flower without the stem would work perfectly for profile images and icons. I had tried designing a house and looked for house artwork to buy. But nothing really seemed to be the right fit. So a flower it was.

Fast forward too 2018/2019 and a re-design was in order for all things Pleasant Home. That’s when my house logo was born. A more simplified design style was first and foremost on my mind. I found a little house logo I loved. The house reflects my ‘all things home’ approach to my business and fits perfectly into all the reason’s I named my business Pleasant Home.

You can find my post on why my business is named Pleasant Home HERE.

About the same time I began the rebranding of my business; everyday life events with some stressful ones thrown in - kind of threw a wrench in my plans.

Then the world found itself in the midst of a pandemic and Pleasant Home got put on the back shelf for a bit…

I was overwhelmed at how much social media had changed. I had anxiety about trying to do “all the things”, and constantly had thoughts of, “would I have anything new to share in the ever growing world of quilting?” It was completely overwhelming to me during that time.

Thanks to the pandemic and the new world of zooming everything. I spent a couple of years taking classes online and exploring the idea of becoming a certified genealogist. (something I’d always thought I would do) But … I found that I desperately missed being creative. I missed sewing and quilting. I missed the connections and friendships I’d formed over the years. And I never thought I’d say this, but I missed blogging.

The Pleasant Home Company

So … here we go again! A bit of a change with Pleasant Home as a little subsidiary of The Pleasant Home Company, and a strong desire to move forward and create and share my love of creating, quilting, and all things home!
